Montana is well known for its amazing fly fishing trips and experiencing this activity on the iridescent glacier blue-green Middle Fork of the Flathead River bordering Glacier National Park shouldn’t be missed. Great Northern offers half day Montana fly fishing trips, full day fly fishing trips, as well as mult-iday and overnight fly fishing trips. Our fishing guides supply all the needed fishing gear including the rods, reels, and all the fly fishing flies at no extra cost.

Our rafting guide Joe Dirt was dope! He taught us about beaver slides, mating calls, and indigenous fish as well as anything you would need to know about being safe on the water. 10/10 would recommend

Overnight, Multi-Day Fishing Trip (2-3 Days)

Our custom fishing trips in Glacier National Park offer our guests over 80 miles of pristine wild and scenic river corridor. The custom trip enables Great Northern to offer a variety of opportunities to meet the needs of each angler.

Camping Day 1

Meet your group at the Great Northern Resort at 8:30. This is the time for check-in, rental of river gear, orientation, and any last minute packing. The morning float includes some great whitewater rapids ranging from Class II to Class IV. Your guide will stop along the river to give you a chance to relax while we prepare a delicious lunch.

There is often time to take a short walk along the river, stretch your legs and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The scenic float continues, carrying you through canyons and past ancient forests in a landscape that remains pristine and undeveloped. We set up camp early in the evening. A generous full course dinner is prepared by your guides. Montana days are long, and the evenings seem to last forever. Be prepared for short hikes or bocce on the beach. When the stars come out, songs and stories around the campfire bring the day to a memorable close.

Camping Day 2

In the morning, the emphasis is on scenery as we traverse the southern boundary of Glacier National Park. We often see animals and waterfowl in this stretch.

Camping Day 3

Awake to the sound of the river and cozy up to the morning fire with a strong cup of coffee. After another hearty breakfast, the rafts will be loaded and the river will sweep you away to another day of wilderness adventure. The water is calmer with fewer rapids as we travel into another scenic portion of the trip.

You may want to swim, relax, or just take in the sights and sounds of the canyon. The afternoon float brings us to the West Glacier area. We arrive back at the Great Northern Resort around 4:00 p.m. Please let us know of any travel connections well in advance.
