Early Season Hikes in Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is open year round. Most people only know it for its beautiful Going-to-the-Sun road, but this road is only a small portion of what Glacier National Park has to offer. This year ‘the road’ as locals call it, is scheduled to be opened up completely on June 21st. There are still fabulous hikes that start close to West Glacier where the scenery is just breathtaking!

Good Summer for Rafting!

The rafting season has been just wonderful this summer. The best thing about the 2012 season is that the water is a little higher than it usually is at this time of year, so there is still plenty of fun to be had by all. The whitewater rapids are splashy and the water a beautiful glacial blue/green. The river is so clear that between rapids you can see the trout swimming right from where you are sitting on the raft. The Going-to-the-Sun Road is open!

The entire Going-to-the-Sun Rd opened on Tuesday. On Thursday we decided to do the entire drive to see the beautiful scenery for ourselves! We started on the West side up to Logan’s Pass which took about 1 1/5hrs, since there was a 30 minute wait due to construction. In normal circumstances a 30 minute delay would be infuriating, but on Going-to-the-Sun Rd it is actually quite relaxing.
