Middle Fork of the Flathead River in Spring Run-Off

I went for a walk by the Middle Fork of the Flathead river yesterday and noticed that it is quite a bit higher than it has been for the past couple of days. Beaches that have been visible all winter long have now disappeared into the river. Although my dogs will miss running on those (there are another million plus acres for them to run on, so I would not worry […]

So what to do on a rainy/snowy Tuesday afternoon when we can’t go rafting? We are lucky to have Glacier Distilling Company just down the road for a quick cocktail or to sample new products, so we did both! The new whiskey made from Great Northern Brewing Company’s Wheatfish beer is delicious!

We woke up today yearning to get back on “our” beautiful river and happened to find The River Wild movie starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon at the grocery store on morning errands. Needless to stay, we purchased it! We will be watching it tonight sitting by the cozy fireplace.

The River Wild was filmed right here on the Middle Fork of the Flathead river, the southern boundary of Glacier National Park. While in reality it is a very fun, splashy, family friendly river, it does look terrifying in the movie thanks to talented camera operators.

Here is the movie trailer found on YouTube.

Enjoy!
